WEBSITE STRATEGY

Get Clear on What Your Website Actually Needs

Before we change the website, we learn how the organization works.

Before jumping into design, content changes, SEO, or a full rebuild, we take time to understand your organization, your audiences, how information moves, and where the website is getting in the way. Then we turn what we learn into decisions about structure, content, visibility, priorities, and what should happen next.

What Website Strategy actually does

Discovery gives us context. Website Strategy turns that context into decisions.

  1. Clarify what the website needs to do - We define its role and the priorities that matter most.

  2. Prioritize the right audiences - We identify who needs the website, what they need from it, and where those needs overlap or compete.

  3. Organize the information - We structure services, programs, ministries, resources, and content around the people trying to use them.

  4. Give every page a job - We define what someone needs to understand and what should happen next.

  5. Find where the experience breaks down - We look at navigation, content, terminology, search visibility, and calls-to-action.

  6. Decide what happens first - We turn what we find into priorities, so your team has a practical path forward.

Good website strategy is not based on guesswork. We combine what your team knows with what the website can tell us.

  • Your organization: How do your services, programs, teams, priorities, and responsibilities fit together today?

  • Your audiences: Who needs the website? What are they trying to accomplish?

  • Your current website: What is working, what is confusing, and what no longer belongs?

  • Content + search: What are people looking for? What questions should the site answer? Where are SEO and content opportunities being missed?

  • Structure + pathways: How should information be organized? What belongs in navigation? What should happen after someone lands on a page?

  • Evidence: Where useful, we review analytics, search behavior, page performance, competitor context, and other available data to help separate assumptions from actual problems.

We look at the website through four questions.

Find

Can the right people discover you?

Understand

Once they arrive, can they quickly make sense of what you do?

Trust

Does the website give them enough confidence to keep going?

Act

When they are ready, is the next step clear?

The exact work depends on what we find. Your Website Strategy may include:

  • Audience and website priorities

  • Sitemap and navigation recommendations

  • Page hierarchy and page purpose

  • Service, program, or ministry organization

  • Visitor journeys and calls-to-action

  • Homepage and landing-page direction

  • Content gaps and consolidation opportunities

  • SEO, keyword, and internal-linking opportunities

  • Recommendations for what should stay, move, change, combine, or go

  • A prioritized roadmap for what happens next

The goal isn’t more documents. It’s a clear answer to: What should this website do, how should it work, and what do we need to fix first?

Sometimes strategy changes the answer.

You may need a full redesign. Or the better solution may be a focused refresh, stronger content, better structure, improved search visibility, or changes to a few critical pages.

Either way, the next decision has a reason behind it. Our job isn’t to sell you more website than you need. It’s to help you make the right website decision.

Not sure what the right fix is?

That’s where Website Strategy helps. We’ll learn how your organization actually works, identify what the website needs, and build a clearer plan for what should happen next.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I need Website Strategy before a redesign?

Not every project needs a separate strategy engagement, but every good redesign needs strategy. For complex or unclear sites, starting here helps avoid designing around problems that should have been solved first.

  • Will I get a sitemap?

When sitemap work is relevant, yes. The exact deliverable depends on the project, but the goal is always a practical plan your team can use.

  • Can strategy focus on one part of the website?

Yes. A full-site review is not always necessary. We can focus on a homepage, service structure, program area, visitor path, or another priority when that is the real issue.

  • Does Website Strategy include SEO?

Search visibility is part of the strategy because people have to find the website before they can use it. Deeper keyword research, implementation, and ongoing measurement belong under SEO Visibility when needed.
